LaLou is hiring a General Manager! LaLou, a celebrated neighborhood restaurant and wine bar on Vanderbilt Avenue in the heart of Prospect Heights, Brooklyn is seeking a highly skilled General Manager. Executive Chef Ian Anderson (formerly Le Coucou, Betony and Otway) is behind the seasonal, market-driven lunch and dinner menus, showcasing elevated but approachable wine-friendly food with French flair. The 500+ bottle list of natural, biodynamic and small production wines, is a collaboration between friends and colleagues Joe Campanale (restaurateur, beverage expert, Food & Wine Sommelier of the Year) and Dave Foss (a hospitality veteran and former Anfora wine buyer). Duties and responsibilities Oversee and/or execute all front of house operations. Manage and inspire a FOH team to deliver exceptional service and foster community. Ensure consistent execution of food, beverage, service, and hospitality that aligns with our values Proactively manage prime costs with an eye on the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual projections and budgets Work 5 days per week; a 6th day may be required from time-to-time Create and foster a positive and safe work environment Regularly report findings, issues and concerns during weekly operations meeting and lend their voice and expertise to organizational-wide meeting topics Candidates can expect Competitive wages, potential to earn an attainable performance-based bonus, sick time, PTO, and company-supplemented medical and dental insurance Tuition reimbursement/education stipend to advance their management or wine knowledge An “open-book” operating philosophy The guidance, training, and support of a professional, outsourced HR team Resources to hire and manage a well-compensated, healthy team A dedicated team of owners and operators to support the venue Great wine! Compensation and benefits $82,500-$87,500 plus a quarterly non-discretionary performance bonus of up to 10% annually beginning in 2024 Pre-tax transit benefits Cell phone stipend New York Paid Safe and Sick Leave, separate from PTO Company contribution to medical insurance Position requirements 2+ years experience in an AGM or GM full-service restaurant role Experience leading, teaching, and inspiring a restaurant team with a proven track record of leading high-caliber service Food Handler’s card Availability to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays as the business dictates Fluent in written and spoken English The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, for 4 to 8 hours, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours.
